People between 150 to 200 lbs
Getting the right machine for your weight

If any one is in the 200lb+ range, this is when it is important to get a machine that has enough power especially when leaning back on your heels for lymphatic drainage and standing on the tippy edges of the plate.

When a machine bogs down and starts to shake or vibrate excessively when those that are over 200 pounds stand on their heels, this is when I know the manufacturer's specs have been over inflated and my real world tests prove this. With heavier people if just standing normally and not "heel bone on hard plate" it is hard to tell if the machine is powerful enough. Many people go to home and garden shows and I people tell me that they were never told to lean on their heels. There are lots of fairs and health expos people go to and I have listened to how they guide people on the machines and its like they only talk about exercise or circulation. Probably because they know their machines aren't strong enough for lymphatic drainage. Any machine, even a cheap machine on Ebay for 300 bucks has enough power to move someone's hips if they are not leaning on their heels. When not leaning on the heels the machine just cancels out each hips.
Note: Changing belts - This is the biggest problem with heavier people buying really cheap machines. The belts stretch with heavier people and get really hot and start off gassing a rubber odor.

True weight capacity Scam. This is very important as this is what I just found out.
Weight Capacity is the weight that a plate can support before the plate fails mechanically. For example, when the machine is powered off, the weight will break the plate mechanism. This is not the weight that a plate can support when operating. So if you see a really cheap machine saying it has a limit of 350 pounds, this might not mean it can actually work with 350 people while the machine is operating. Companies are supplying maximum specifications in isolation to one another which I believe is a really misleading.

When every machine says their machine will hold 300 or 400 pounds, the only way to really tell is to test each one holding dumbbells like I did and lean back on my feet. This is how I separate the inflated weight limits in real world tests.

People Under 100 lbs:
If you are under 100 pounds, you can get by with a 1hp motor. These are capable of lifting the legs and work fine at low speeds but when leaning on your heels at high speeds the motor can bog down. These typically feel like an oversized foot massager. As long as you don't expect it to do more than just feel good on your feet it should be fine. Not much power is needed for those under 100 lbs so the cheaper machines should be fine. Just make sure they are not AC powered as these really cheap machines give off the most EMF of all the models.  Typical machines have 200 watts max and cost about 150 to 300 dollars on Ebay.

People between 100 - 150 lbs
For people in this range, a 1.5 HP motor should be sufficient. These machines usually come in at 300 to 500 watts. The g force is much higher than the 1HP motors. If someone is going to be doing lymphatic drainage on the low settings this power might be too weak as I always recommend buying a machine rated for 50 pounds over your weight. The machines in this range are the machines that most people buy and realize one day they want something more powerful. The machines in this power range usually cannot sustain high acceleration speeds and have high acceleration G force especially those with DC motors. Only the AC motors in this range are the ones that I've found to have enough power. 500 Watts AC is much more powerful than a 500 Watt DC motor.

People between 150 to 200 lbs
The machines that have a true 2hp motor can handle people up to 200 pounds. Those that are close to 200 pounds bog down about 90% of the machines I put them on. Most of the people in this weight range tend to buy machines before they do the heel test and see if it will actually lift them up and not just cancel each hip out. If the machines aren't build strong enough to handle this weight range they tend to make excessive noise and vibrate the machine itself. A 2 Hp motor in this range is good as long as it has enough amperage. The way to tell if it has enough is if it makes a straining noise as if you are pulling too many amps than the machine is rated for.

People between 200 to 300+ lbs
If people are over 200 pounds I always recommend a machine with higher amperage. This is the biggest problem I run into. There are high wattage machines that burn out over time much quicker when there is low amperage. The machines that give the highest torque to give that "pop" at the acceleration with enough G force to not bog down standing on the heels are the ones that I approve of in this range. Most 200+ pound people don't realize they have a machine that is not powerful enough for them once they do the heel test. In this weight class, I listen when people stand on the machines to notice any motor strain or change in pitch. I believe that the manufactures rate some of these machines at 300 or more pound weight limits but never took into consideration people would be leaning back on their heels and not dissipate the energy into their muscles by standing naturally.

I have my favorites for each weight class based on what the main type of workouts are going to be. If bone density is number one then it would be different than my recommendation if lymphatic drainage is number one. Take my vibration quiz and I will recommend a machine based on your answers.
